The direct benefits flowing from our purposes are: Purpose A (a) Enhanced quality of life and improved sense of well-being through engagement with and participation in activities and events that bring people together, leading to improvements in physical and emotional well-being, quality of life and a more stable and cohesive
community; (b) increased opportunities to engage in new activities that bring people together, leading to greater social cohesion and fulfilment; and (c) enhanced active citizenship and involvement in community life. Purpose B (a) an enhanced quality of life and improved sense of well-being for young people as they participate in and make use of the Association’s recreational area, activities and events, leading to improvements in physical and emotional well-being; and (b) an enhanced quality of life and improved sense of well-being for the elderly within our local community as they have the opportunity to meet together, reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation, thereby contributing to good self-esteem and mental health Purpose C (a) a development of the skills, capabilities and competences of individual volunteers as they benefit both from training provided by the Association and from the experience gained in running our programmes and activities, which in turn enhances the prospects of future employment; (b) an improved sense of well-being and self-esteem of those attending our programmes and activities as they develop new skills, capabilities and knowledge; (c) a contribution towards positive mental health and improvement in emotional well-being as participants in our programmes and activities benefit from the opportunity to meet and spend time with others within the local community; and (d) the promotion of a healthy lifestyle through the provision of activities involving sport and exercise such as gardening groups and youth groups. Purpose D (a) An improved quality of life for those within the local community through premises, centres and recreation facilities being well maintained. These benefits can be identified through feedback received from the participants in the various programmes and activities, evaluation of the Association’s work, and feedback received from other groups and organisations that make use of the facilities offered by the Association, for example, the local primary school. We do not anticipate that any harm will flow from any of the above purposes The general public and inhabitants of Maghaberry and surrounding district A staff of three is employed by the organisation, 1 full time centre manager who managers the daily running of the facility and attends to all administrative matters and 2 centre attendants who undertake evening reception and light cleaning duties. These positions are currently recognised through salaries which we believe are incidental as these positions are necessary to fulfil the organisation’s purposes.

Maghaberry Community Association organises and runs programmes and activities for the benefit of the local community. These include toddler groups, friendship groups, craft groups, gardening club, youth groups and groups for the elderly, which are run on a weekly basis in our Community Centre. Summer schemes, Christmas events, Halloween events
and various fundraisers are also organised throughout the year. The Association’s programmes and activities are run by volunteers and we provide them with training including First Aid training, Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection training, Dementia awareness training, and personal protection training. The Community Centre is managed and ran by employed staff and overseen by Directors. Room hire, staff, cleanliness and Health and Safety issues are managed by the Centre Manager. As well as being used for the Association’s activities, the Community Centre is also made available to the local primary school to run after-school activities.
