Public benefits

The direct benefits flowing from S.M.C.A purpose are: Improved health and well being of the inhabitants of the village and hinterland - these benefits include reduced isolation especially within senior citizens, increasing social interaction, develops friendships and improves physical and mental awareness. Improve educational skills - providing

the community with classes and education on their door step and working with agencies to ensure certificated courses are run. Improved facilities and services for the citizens - offering a welcoming centre open to all, providing services through agencies ie. advice services, health services, social services. These benefits are and will be demonstrated through continued evaluation of all programmes /classes run at the community hall - we will promote and carry out, or assist in promotion and carrying out research through surveys, workshops and interval discussions with our groups. There is no harm arising from the purpose of Sion Mills Community Association. The charity's beneficiaries will be from the Sion Mills village and surrounding hinterland. S.M.C.A. is an association to benefit the public, targeting 90% from the village and 10% from the hinterland. We will provided targeted programmes to sectors of the community ie. senior citizens, youth, kids. There is no private benefit flowing from any purpose.

What your organisation does

S.M.C.A. provides a welcoming community centre for all. We offer a number of activities at the centre to include social events for senior citizens - coffee mornings, bingo; provide classes to include arts & crafts, music and dance;health and well-being; youth facilities - youth clubs for 5yrs-14yrs; summer scheme, day trips; work along government

agencies to provide on site services such as citizens advice, health, housing, educational colleges.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to; 2.1 - relive poverty,sickness and the aged to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Sion Mills and district are of Co.Tyrone and its environs ( hereinafter described as "the area of benefit" without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, which the object of improving conditions of life for the said inhabitants. 2.2 - To establish or to secure the establishment of a community centre (hereinafter called "the centre") and to maintain and manage or to cooperate with any local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects.
