The direct benefits that flow from the purpose include the alleviation of rural isolation; the improvement of the physical and mental well-being and the development of skills of people living in the parish of Alla, Londonderry in the County of Londonderry. The benefits are evidenced by feedback from those persons within the area of benefit who

participate in the events and activities organised by the Charity and by regular review of the services provided by it. The purposes do not lead to harm. People living the Parish of Alla, Londonderry in the County of Londonderry though others within the Derry City & Strabane District Council Areas may also benefit. None

What your organisation does

The company (“the Group”) provides a community hub for social interaction for all members of the community in the Alla Parish area, tackles and alleviates rural isolation and provides a platform for engagement so talents and resources can be used to the full so no one will be or feel disadvantaged irrespective of sex, disability, marital status,

creed, social class, colour, religious affiliation, ethnic group, age or sexual orientation. The Group runs a Luncheon Club which aims to reduce isolation and improve both the physical and mental well-being of reach older people. This club arranges community activities attracting people from all backgrounds of the older age group. The classes provided include various crafts, arm chair aerobics, trips and a monthly Community Tea Dance. Community Evenings, Social Evenings and Dances these attract all age groups and are tailored to the needs of the Alla community. Past events have also included tractor rallies, a Valentine evening, a St. Patrick’s evening. Youth Work - age range 4 –18 years of age. This includes weekly and monthly youth clubs which include craft activities, camping trips and educational visits. Increase Opportunity For Volunteering - The Group provides volunteering opportunities which it anticipates will increase over time as people engage more in community life and activities. Build Community Capacity - by encouraging new skills through its activities the Group will help increase the confidence of participants as they gain a sense of achievement giving people the self-confidence to go on and acquire further skills and interact more with new people. Improve Quality Of Life - People in remote communities such as Alla who for various reasons cannot travel are spending much of their lives in isolation. The ongoing and proposed activities of the Community Group will provide social activities that are mentally and physically engaging, delivered locally and accessible to people of all abilities and backgrounds.

Charitable purposes

The promotion of any charitable purposes for the general benefit of the inhabitants of the Parish of Alla, Londonderry in the county of Londonderry for which provision is not made from public rates and taxes as the Trustees shall think fit. Nothing in the articles authorises an application of the property of the charity for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with section 2 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
