Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include raising awareness of age appropriate play based learning among parents and carers and the provision of early education for children under statutory school age in Caledon and its surrounding area. To be of benefit to the public the organisation needs to be accessible to the public to which we

aim to benefit. Caledon Playgroup is a cross community organisation with an open door policy and an equal opportunities policy for committee members, staff, volunteers and children we are very accessible to the community. We ensure our inclusion policy is adequate to guarantee that every child regardless of religion, gender, political opinion, ethnicity or ability or social or economic background has equal opportunities within our setting. The Advancement of education of the children, this can be achieved by ensuring the provision of safe and satisfying group play, while upholding the rights of parents/carers to be involved in the activities of the group and therefore the education of their children; These benefits are evidenced through feedback from parents; Early Years Advisors, a full annual Inspection and regular evaluation of the service by The Early Years Team at Armagh & Dungannon Social Services .The Department of Education for Northern Ireland also inspect Caledon Playgroup to ensure the Preschool Curriculum for Northern Ireland is fully implemented. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The beneficiaries of the purpose are children under statutory school age living in Caledon and its surrounding area. They also include parent and carers of children under statutory school age in Caledon and its surrounding area. There is no private benefit as a result of the purposes.

What your organisation does

Caledon Playgroup provides a pre-school provision for up to 26 children each year from Caledon and the surrounding area. We benefit the rural village of Caledon and surrounding area by giving their children the best possible start to their education and preparing them for Primary School. We provide a safe and stimulating environment in which

children from all backgrounds can acquire the skills and attitudes to become individuals and successful learners. We follow the values and principles of Early Years, The Organisation for Young Children.

Charitable purposes

The aim of the group is to enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age by encouraging parents/guardians to understand and provide for the needs of their children by:- a) Offering appropriate play facilities, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the Group, ensuring that the Group offers opportunities for all children, regardless of age, gender, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion. b) Encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their families and promoting public interest in and recognition of such need of such children and their families in the local area of Caledon.
