Benefits exist by creating an environment with opportunities for young people to develop personally and gain skills and experience which will lead to employment opportunities which will benefit themselves, their families and their community. To inspire a passion and a sense of ownership for the local community and the environment. To develop a
voice to shape their community as well as their futures. To connect with the visitors whish their local economy is reliant upon, to develop a world class welcome and a shared vision for the protection of the environment and surrounds. Job skills leading to employment or volunteering whether it be in the private or public sector. Entrepreneurship opportunities within the product development programme. Confidence and personal development through presentation and inspiring other young groups to follow a similar model. None Initially young girls aged 14 plus but the plans are to widen the programme in the future. No obvious private benefit apart from the participating organisations achieving on their social responsibility aims and objectives. The newly formed Board assess potential conflict of interest at each Board meeting as a routine.

1. To create supportive, positive environments and opportunities for young people that nurture their wellbeing and potential and develop their skills and employability. Building Me delivers practical skill development programmes which run consistently through the year, providing structure for participants where there is sometimes limited structure
in home lives. Positivity is always encouraged and is a key theme of the sessions. There is a wide-ranging number of activities planned over the year which focus on a variety of personal development aspects. E.G. A large focus is on practical skills development in the key sectors which may provides jobs in the future – hospitality, tourism, conservation and creative skills. Building Me delivers a Business Development Programme where participants design and develop a range of products for tourists to buy involving the exploration of visitors to the area and an understanding of their needs and aspirations. There is a focus on sustainability and encouraging the participants’ vision to build in a charitable dimension to their business model. Health and wellbeing are key issues therefore health and nutrition modules are incorporated into the training programme. The Building Me training programme also focuses on mental health through enabling participants to explore the nurturing of positive mental health and building skills and confidence to address bullying situations both on and offline.
