Public benefits

Purpose One(Relief of Poverty). The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is a reduction in the impact of poverty on people's quality of life, the prevention of poverty and the physical, social, community and economic improvements within the Strabane area. These benefits are evidenced through official government statistics, feedback from

beneficiaries, new community/social physical infrastructure within the area and a regular evaluation of our services. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are residents living within the Strabane area and community and voluntary groups based in this area. A private benefit to SPARYA employees arises by their employment to help SPARYA deliver our purpose, however this is necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose Two (Advancement of citizenship and Community Development). The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is improved community life, new community infrastructure developed and maintained so that they can be used by the local community. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from residents/beneficiaries, feedback from community/voluntary groups and regular evaluation of our services. The beneficiaries of this purpose are residents of all ages living within the Strabane area and community and voluntary groups based within this area. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. A private benefit to SPARYA staff (salary) may arise however these are necessary to deliver the purpose and ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

We work from our community centre in Springhill Park in Strabane, through proper staff training, using on our community volunteers experience we implement our purpose. We run an Afterschool's homework club for children aged 5-11 years old, this helps take the pressure of parents who work long hours and also young people who need support with

school work after school with qualified workers. We run and Intermediate project for young people between the ages of 11-16 years old, this project is there to enhance young people in secondary school to help and support them throughout there teenage years into adulthood. Senior Drop in Centre for young people aged 16-19 years old. This helps young people not in school to avail of agencies that we bring in to help young people move forward with, benefits, jobs, training, health and well being etc. Woman and Men groups, our groups meet once a week to avail of projects that are tailored to the group in question at their requests. We also offer training with NWRC, English, Maths and ICT. To help promote education. We run an after schools homework club for young people aged 5-11 years, 4 days a week. We run an Intermediate project for young people aged between 11-16 years old, we address needs that impact the young people on a daily bases. We run a youth drop in centre for young people 16+, this is an opportunity for young people to come and avail of project and services that benefit them in housing, welfare, jobs, health, friendship. We run a women's group and men's group We run an after schools homework club for young people aged 5-11 years old, this helps young people and parents who struggle with school work and learning abilities. Charitable purposes

The Association is established to: relieve poverty and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the SPRINGHILL PARK and district area of STRABANE and its environs (hereinafter described as "the area of benefit") without distinction of age sex race political religious or other opinion by associating the statutory authorities voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education to promotion of health and well being and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
