Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from the purpose of the Collective includes tackling relevant local issues such as mental health and organise joint events for the whole town to make it a better place for people to live. We aim to bring local groups together to give Ballynahinch a voice within Down District. These benefits are demonstrated through

feedback from participants and beneficiaries and by the level of uptake of our projects and activities The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in Ballynahinch and surrounding area. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of seasonal events, support and partnership work with local community and voluntary groups. Through this work trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Ballynahinch Community Collective provides a Forum where member organisations attend regular meetings coming together to organise and local activities and events, share common issues and information. The Collective organises large seasonal festivities at Halloween and Christmas and other events such as a Uniform Recycling Fair in the summer

providing free school uniforms for families who need them. Ballynahinch Community Collective works together to create a collective voice in partnership with statutory agencies and authorities to tackle relevant local issues such as mental health; affecting Ballynahinch and surrounding areas.

Charitable purposes

The Associations Purposes ("Objects") are specifically restricted to the following:- (1) Advancement of community development for the public benefit in Ballynahinch and surrounding area ( the "area of benefit"), in particular the promotion of the community and voluntary sector for the benefit of the public by: (i)Supporting and developing initiatives and projects that strengthen the community and voluntary sector in charitable activity and seek to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the area of benefit; (ii) Organising or assist in organising activities to promote health and well being for residents in the area of benefit; (iii) Providing support services , information, education and training. (2) To provide and maintain a Forum where member organisations can join together to find mutual support, exchange views, share common issues and information, create a collective voice and work in partnership with statutory agencies and authorities. (3) To promote good community relations, religious and racial harmony, equality and diversity.
