Public benefits

Purpose-The Advancement of Citizenship and community development The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are increased community participation in horticulture ,home baking ,art , photography and craft for exclusively charitable purposes by the provision of an annual motivational event. The promotion of social inclusion and a volunteering

ethos also further inspire civic values and community activity within the Eglinton and Derry city and Strabane council area. These benefits are evidenced by continued high numbers of class entries and visitors on show day. Our committee and volunteer numbers are well maintained and our social media and local newspaper feedback remain very positive. There is no harm flowing from this purpose Beneficiaries of this purpose are all age groups resident in the Derry and Strabane District council area. A private benefit may arise to committee members from time to time in that they may avail of training programmes in matters such as governance but this benefit is necessary to ensure the efficient provision of benefit to our community and is entirely incidental. The benefits of purpose 1 can be demonstrated by class entry and show visitor numbers being maintained year on year. Also by social media feedback and local newspaper coverage. The benefits of purpose 2 are demonstrated by entry and visitor numbers being maintained as well as social media feedback. The benefits of purpose 3 are demonstrated by the continued numbers of committee members , show entries and visitors as well as support for and from other voluntary bodies in staging The Eglinton Annual Show. The possibility of harm in all purposes is outweighed by public benefit . We have a risk assessment policy which is updated annually and all volunteers are made aware of its contents prior to show day. Eglinton show beneficiaries are entrants from all age groups from pre-school upwards .Also our visitors on show day are from all age groups and our committee members and stewards benefit from the opportunity to volunteer. The potential private benefit flowing from these purposes is incidental in the form of training opportunities

What your organisation does

The committee meets monthly throughout the year to arrange everything in connection with staging the Annual Show each September. We also run fun events to promote interest in the show and to raise funds -eg.croquet event and games/quiz night.
