Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from the purposes include improved understanding of the Arabic language among the Arab and Muslim communities, especially children, through establishing a part-time school for teaching Arabic language and culture, improved relationship within the Arabic and Muslim communities, and the preservation of the Arabic

heritage amongst those communities. Other benefits include helping newly arrived Arab refugees such as Syrians, who normally don't speak good English, to settle down in Northern Ireland and hence improve their chance of gaining employment and becoming socially and economically active citizens and provide translation services when necessary. Benefits also include the preservation of the Arabic language and culture amongst the children of refugees as well as the children of second and third generations of Arab and Muslim immigrants in Northern Ireland. Furthermore, promoting the Arabic language and culture helps improve relationship between the Arabic and Muslim communities on one side and the other minorities, as well as the wider society in Northern Ireland on the other side. This in turn helps the wider society in Northern Ireland to gain a better understanding of the arabic heritage and culture, and hence improve relationships between all community sectors in Northern Ireland The benefits can be evidenced through regular written and verbal tests of students learning the Arabic language, as well as through seminars, talks and competitions held in Arabic language. Other benefits can be demonstrated through feedback from the beneficiaries and other community groups, internal reports of the charity as well as external reports from various community and government bodies. Charitable purposes

The Association is established to teach Arabic language and promote the education of the inhabitants of the Greater Belfast area and its environs of Northern Ireland (hereinafter called the "area of benefit"), by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants and in particular: a) to advance and provide a focus on Arabic language among the general public, especially children, by promoting awareness of, the study of, and research into Arabic history, folklore, skills, arts, crafts and cultural heritage; b) to promote the education of people, and their children, through the provision of Arabic language resources; c) to advance education among parents in the area of benefit and to encourage parents in the area of benefit to provide mutual support and encouragement to each other and to their children.
