The charity is involved in Education, counselling and development projects in the north-east region of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). At present the education component comprises two primary schools and a university, registered with the Ministry of Education in DRC. It is hoped to add a secondary school in the near future to provide a
vertically integrated bi-lingual education from primary to university level education. While one of the supported primary schools is fee paying the second is not and welcomes children directly affected by violence, many of whom are orphans. We offer these students the opportunity to receive an education right through university level in Congo. The university produces graduates in law, economics, applied sciences, communication and theology, other faculties will be added in due course. The university will also train Congolese teaching staff to doctoral levels for teaching in the university and other higher level institutions in Congo and Central Africa. High level research is being produced through the Integrate Research Institute that has been established by the University. We aim to establish Counselling and support centres throughout the region that networks with local churches and other religious institutions. The counselling centres will offer counselling services directly to populations affected by violence, but also offers training to faith groups involved in similar activities in the region. Development projects include training and resourcing local business people engaged in agribusiness. Various local people will be trained in agribusiness and provided with technical and financial support and it is hoped to organise farmers unions in future. A programme called ‘Women’s Voices’ empowers professional women throughout the region by offering seminars, conferences, and networking. We assist and facilitate local women’s groups in setting up small businesses and networking to help each other.
