Stephen's Green is a multi-use outdoor sports pitch constructed on land leased from a landowner (Legal documentation of lease agreement are available) 80% of the construction work was carried out by local volunteers and 20% by contractors who were paid for their services. Money was raised by fundraising activities to pay the contractors. The school
children from St Mary's PS use the pitch on a daily basis during term time. The pitch was completed in June 2017 and was opened in September 2017. We hold sports tournaments and coaching sessions for the local school children and tournaments for local visiting schools from the Co Down Area. Out of term time we hold sports days where aforementioned sporting activities take place and people from throughout NI can attend and take part in these sporting activities. Money is continuously raised to purchase sports equipment for aforementioned sports and for the upkeep of Stephen's Green and to pay for coaching where necessary. SMART (NI) also pay for Public Liability Insurance of Stephen's Green. Through continued fund raising activities we can donate money to Cruse Bereavement Services Through continued fundraising activities we can donate money to local mental health groups in Co. Down.
