Children feel valued, learn through play in a safe, stimulating environment, enjoy the company of other children, build relationships with adults away from the family. Take part in a group which values everyone. Children develop their own character with the encouragement and support of adults. Children grow in self-confidence encouraging the

ability to chose from a range of activities in a caring environment. Children are forming friendships with peers and adults increasing their social interaction. Making choices in their play developing independence and have a sense of belonging. Benefits are also identified by Parental feedback, staff observations and progression reports, focus visit from Early Years Specialist, HSCT annual report and inspection from The Department of Education of Northern Ireland. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes. Children who attend St. Mary's on the Hill Preschool Playgroup along with their parents/carers. The benefit is for the children who attend St. Mary's on the Hill Preschool Playgroup. Parent/carers who join the voluntary management committee and gain new skills.

Charitable purposes

St. Mary's on The Hill Preschool Playgroup is established to promote play based learning environments for all children under statutory school age of the Newtownabbey and Belfast area and its surrounding environs in County Antrim without distinction of age, gender, martial status, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effect to advance education, and in particular: a) to advance the education of the beneficiaries by the provision of safe and satisfying group play, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the group, and to promote the preservation of health of the beneficiaries, and b) to support the values and principles of the Statutory Preschool Curriculum(Department of Education) and minimum Standards for sessional playgroups as detailed by the Department of Health and Social Services.
