Public benefits
The direct benefits that flow from purpose 1 are the relief of distress and hardship for families who are living in extreme poverty, reduced levels of stress and anxiety for those families and school communities in respect to feeding pupils and an increased awareness in the Parishes of Kilmore and Killyleagh, of the need to support communities in
the Developing World including Uganda and Nigeria. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 2 include access to primary education for children and young people from families in Kibiri Parish who are living in extreme poverty and cannot afford to pay the required school fees. There is also access to improved educational facilities and resources for all pupils attending the Parish schools including St. Dominic’s PS, St. Kizito’s PS and St. Charles Luanga Secondary School. The direct benefits flowing from purpose 3 are access to basic medical care, improved sanitation facilities, access to clean water, the reduction in the number of malaria cases amongst pupils who board at parish primary schools and decrease in the risk of diseases like diarrhoea. The benefits are evidenced through supplying funds to provide food, school fees and educational resources for pupils in St. Dominic’s and St. Kizito’s PS, feedback from school principals, parish centre and pupils and communications with our partners in Kibiri using email and WhatsApp, regular updates (written and face to face with our fellow parishioners) development of Uganda Link on Parish website www.staroftheseaandkillyleagh.com and visits to Uganda by PUL trustees. Benefits are also evidenced by the construction of Wells, kitchens, and latrines on school sites as well as the supply of mosquito nets, medical equipment and furniture and installation of electricity at the new Parish medical centre. There is potential harm for trustees when visiting Uganda. However, this is mitigated through a pre-visit preparation programme including attaining necessary vaccinations and medicines to protect them against illnesses such as yellow fever and malaria, and is necessary to achieving the purpose. There is no harm flowing from purposes 2 & 3 of our organisation The beneficiaries are families living in extreme poverty, school communities, children and adults from Kibiri Parish, St. Michael's Parish, Nigeria, and the Parish Community of Kilmore and Killyleagh. There is no private benefit flowing from any of the purposes.

The activities undertaken by the Parish Uganda Link (PUL) to further its purposes include: 1. The Implementation of an Education Support Initiative - Pupil Sponsorship Scheme on an annual basis for children in Primary Education in Kibiri Parish, whose families cannot afford to pay the required school fees and are identified as being among those
most in need. Families are identified by a committee in Kibiri Parish comprising members of Kibiri Parish Council, managers and governors of the 2 Primary Schools, St. Dominic’s and St. Kizito’s. The PUL members invite parishioners in the Parishes of Kilmore and Killyleagh to sponsor a pupil (either day pupil or boarder) before the start of the school year (February-December). During the year each sponsor receives an end of term report from the class teacher and letter of thanks from the pupil. 2. Fundraising activities to generate funds for Support Projects in Kibiri Parish including the construction of Wells for clean water access, proper sanitation facilities, kitchens, and food stores in the parish schools, as well as the provision of educational resources for schools and medical equipment and supplies for the parish clinic.
