Public benefits

Purpose 1. Advance the education of the public about Fibromyalgia in the North Down and Ards area of Northern Ireland. The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is increased community awareness of the condition and knowledge of where to access local support. Purpose 2: To offer support to the sufferers of Fibromyalgia and their carers in

the North Down and Ards area of Northern Ireland. Direct benefits from this purpose include social support, reduced feelings of isolation, improved feeling of health and wellbeing, reduced levels of stress, a listening ear from individuals who understand what the sufferer is going through, improved self-esteem. Purpose 1: The benefits from purpose 1 are demonstrated by the level of enquiries received from the public, number of requests for information and membership, number of phone calls received and number of individuals who drop into the office for information and a chat. Purpose 2: The benefits from purpose 2 are demonstrated by the level of membership, number of members who access and attend our activities and by verbal feedback. Purpose 2: In providing support we offer hydrotherapy sessions. There is risk of injury when entering and existing the pool, however the risk is reduced by following pool safety guidelines. Other risks could be as a result of over exercising however this is an unintentional side effect. The risks are low and the benefits outweigh potential harm as hydrotherapy and exercise is known to reduce the pain of the condition. The beneficiaries of both purposes are sufferers of Fibromyalgia, their carers and their families. Purpose 1: Private benefits flowing for this purpose would be increased feeling of self worth knowing that individuals are useful and can still contribute to society. Purpose 2: Private benefits flowing from this purpose is the learning of new art and craft skills. The benefit is unavoidable and necessary to the fulfilment of the purpose of the charity.
