Public benefits

The direct benefits are: Culture: There is an enriched sense of cultural identity throughout the wider Dungiven area across all age groups. There is a go to place for social activities and events for all community groups. The Dungiven area benefits from its heritage being preserved for future generations and the future of the Irish language in our

area is used and lived day to day. Recreation: Our youth club provides a social hub for young people in a socially deprived area. They are able to use their language in a setting outside the schools socially. Adults have an outlet to meet other people who have similar interests. Our partnerships are inclusive to the whole community. Education: The vocational qualifications we facilitate encourage adults who didn't get qualifications at school to return to education. Volunteer training up-skills people with courses that are transferable across the community. Our music classes which provide grade exams enrich the traditional culture in the area and provide another social outlet for all ages. We can demonstrate these benefits through the number of people registered with us in the various services we provide. We can show consistent funding partners who help us facilitate these services. We can show the achievements gained by the members who have entered competitions and exams and the volunteers who have gained certificates in training completed. There is no harm arising from the purposes. The charity beneficiaries are Children from 3years to 18years, Adults from 18years up 85years, Local Community groups Partners which include Girl guides, Ladies Set Dancers, Glenshane Care, Naiscoil Neachtain, Gaelscoil Neachtain, Gaelchoaliste Dhoire, Marching Bands. What your organisation does

We promote and develop the Irish Language services and facilities available to the wider Dungiven area through: Culture: Delivering Irish Language and Traditional Music classes to all ages and abilities. Working with retired people and schools who have an interest in the history and heritage of the local area to research a project called

'Understanding our Area' and deliver a Heritage Trail. We provide facilities to other local clubs, societies and organisations to promote culture in the area eg, Schools, Girl Guides, Dance groups, Marching Bands, Drama group and Sports clubs. Recreational: We facilitate youth recreation through a weekly youth club in the medium of Irish which focuses on providing a social outlet for children. We organise trips and events to encourage the youth to meet new people(other youth clubs) and experience new things. We run a weekly conversation circle in the local library where our adult learners meet to use the language they learn at the classes. We organise music sessions in local establishments to promote our classes and provide a social outlet for our music learners. We provide facilities to other local clubs, societies and organisations to promote recreational activities eg, Schools, Girl Guides, Dance groups, Marching Bands, Drama group and Sports clubs. We provide facilities for a local Autism Awareness group to encourage recreational activities to children with ASD. Educational: Working in partnership with schools to organise Irish Language events locally and with other schools eg, quiz & team sports events, we source funding to help school children who are learning Irish attend Summer Gaeltacht. We have started to facilitate a vocational qualification (GCSE) in Irish for adult learners. We provide training for our volunteers First Aid, Safeguarding and Working with Youth.
