Public benefits
The direct benefits from purpose A include improved quality of life for the inhabitants of Markethill and surrounding areas by providing premises & facilities for interest groups and activities to meet in, thereby encouraging community involvement across all ages and traditions and reducing social isolation. The direct benefits from purpose B
include improved mental health and physical well being of those in the benefit area, and improved social interaction and welfare of the elderly in the community. Benefits are evidenced through - regular bookings of facilities at the old courthouse for meetings of historical, dairy, IT, Slimming World, drama & entertainment, and art societies in the conference hall - visits to an online multi-media facility 'bygones & byways' (history of Markethill and its people with live interviews) - numbers of customers visiting the in-house restaurant including those taking advantage of pensioner Monday dinners - local families using the daycare facility on the premises - through the value to the community of bringing this imposing iconic building, built in 1842 to a design by architect Thomas Duff, back into use as a tourist destination and community centre, and preserving it for future generations There is no harm flowing from our purposes The charity's beneficiaries are the inhabitants of Markethill and its surrounding areas There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose
