Public benefits

Direct benefits include;  The provision of a ’safe space’ which is alcohol-free, substance-free and appropriately supervised in which to meet and socialise.  The provision of a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to visits to/from RNLI, Coastguard, PSNI, Ambulance service, FASA and other positive and inclusive

organisations with the result of introducing the beneficiaries to the practical application of good citizenship.  The provision of opportunities for beneficiaries to explore faith, moral and ethical issues in their own way and with their peers under appropriate supervision.  The promotion of constructive use of free time by encouraging the adoption of hobbies, and the involvement in socially positive projects where they live.  The development of skills in communication and in working together as teams by taking on ‘intervention’ projects within the village and surrounding community for the benefit of those communities.  The development of cross-community/transnational relationship skills by having other youth groups, both national and international, visit for periods of time annually.  The encouragement and promotion of the concept of work as a personal and socially valuable activity. The benefits can be demonstrated or evidenced through the feedback – howsoever obtained - of the beneficiaries themselves. There is no harm from our purposes. The beneficiaries are all young people within the locality of Portaferry and over the age of 14 regardless of but not limited to, background, ability, ethnicity, orientation and gender. There are no private benefits which are more than incidental – in this case, where trustees may have the opportunity to enjoy/participate in the same benefits/outcomes as the target group.
