Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from our purposes include providing a public gathering whereby members of the community may attend for public worship and other services. This allows all persons to exercise their personal faith or simply be a part of the public worship. Public meetings are open to all and all are welcome to attend. The church

believes that the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ will have a transforming effect on all who receive it, that this will benefit their own lives and the lives of others. In terms of measuring this element, we do not maintain a formal record of those attending public services. We maintain a register of all under 18's who attend Youth work due to the requirements of our chid protection policy. Whilst increased numbers would not necessarily be the sole measure of the public benefit, this is a strong indicator of footfall and uptake of the different elements. Regular attendance at public meetings is encouraged for all associated with the church and those in formal membership. Feedback is actively encouraged through the organisations and other activities. The diaconate (oversight committee for the church) receives periodic feedback on all activity from the leaders of the organisations. This is used to evaluate current activity, its impact and benefit to those participating in the various activities and determine future activity, improving on existing practice and creating a more effective program to reach into the local community. There is no harm to any member of the public which we can identify. The beneficiaries are the members of our church and those non-members who derive benefit from attending our services, public meetings or specific events hosted by our church. These would be covered by the geographic area of Donaghey, Cookstown, Stewartstown, Dungannon and Moygashel. A minister is employed by the church. The minister is not a trustee, but is paid a salary. This position is essential to efficient running of the church and aspects of pastoral care for the congregation and other members of the public. The minister will perform public duties including the public services of worship, private counselling, officiating at funerals and marriages. He will also be involved in pastoral care for the congregation and care for elderly and the sick providing a vital link between the church and individuals who are unable to attend. Duties would include visiting those in their own home or in state or private residential care.

Charitable purposes

The Congregational churches hold it to be the will of Christ that true believers should voluntarily assemble together to observe religious ordinances, to promote mutual edification and holiness, to perpetuate and propagate the Gospel in the world, and to advance the glory and worship of God, through Jesus Christ; and that each society of believers, having these objects in view in its formation, is properly a Christian church.
