Public benefits

DCYC LTD has four stated Purposes. The benefits flowing from each distinct Purpose are as follows: 1. Benefits flowing from our Purpose of providing facilities: Our Centre acts as a "Community Hub", facilitating social, educational, and recreational activities. The main benefits are improved Quality Of Life; improved health and fitness; increased

social and community interaction and togetherness in a welcoming setting. 2. Benefits flowing from our Purpose of facilitating educational classes and workshops: local people have raised their educational levels, and have increased awareness of and enjoyment in lifelong learning, with the increased confidence that this brings. 3. Benefits flowing from our Purpose of encouraging community service and community involvement: improved social and community interaction, for example through encouraging volunteering. 4. Benefits flowing from our Purpose of promoting tolerance and understanding: cross-community peace and reconciliation in our locality. The benefits identified above can be demonstrated by the continuous longevity of our Parent Organisation (The charity known as Drumquin community Youth Centre). We have records going back c. 44 years, of Youth Club Membership; Organisations we have hosted, and indeed assisted in getting off the ground; Stage productions we have hosted; volunteers we have accepted; and local people whom we have employed. All of these factors and more have contributed to the quality of Life in Drumquin. There are no harms flowing from our Purposes. We are optimistic that the beneficiaries of our Charity will include the entire range of Demographic groups in the Drumquin area. It is also anticipated that people from a wider geographical area will benefit from our provision of a broader range of services, e.g. Cookery and Nutrition Classes. There are no private benefits.

What your organisation does

The purpose-built Community and Youth Centre was opened in 1983. It comprises c.7,200 sq ft: a multi-function hall on ground floor, and similar floor-space in the basement . A variety of services have been provided continuously therein under the supervision of the DCYC committee. Current services include: Junior and Senior Youth Club; Adult Fitness

Classes; Soccer Club training; Halloween, Christmas, and Birthday Parties for children; Polling Station for Elections; Meetings of local Women's group. We have also hosted and produced several Dramatic Plays and Musicals. The Centre is a Community "Hub", a recreational space, popular with children and teenagers. The Youth Club gives them an opportunity to learn, grow, and enjoy themselves in a social setting. We also teach the values of respect, and cooperation. As of february 2018, we are optimistic that we shall soon be awarded a large financial grant in order to modernise the Facility. This will allow us to expand the range of services and activities provided out of our Village Hall; and will lead to increased participation by making the premises more appealing to young and old men and women.
