Public benefits

The public benefits that flow from the advancement of community development and the provision of targeted social inclusion initiatives, which greatly improve the well-being of residents of the Creggan, and neighbouring areas, and improving their social and economic conditions are: • The provision of the Ráth Mór centre, located at Bligh’s Lane,

Creggan, to provide a shared space to promote economic, social, educational, cultural, artistic, good relations, peacebuilding and other activities across the social divide to improve the conditions of life for the residents of the Creggan and surrounding environs. • The advancement of education of the public in the areas of employability, creative technology, economic development, culture and the arts. • Contributing to and improving the social and cultural welfare of the Creggan and surrounding environs. Information to support our programmes’ reporting functions are gathered from a variety of sources and in a variety of methods – we capture photographic and video evidence and gather sign-in sheets and feedback from customers and participants including written and oral testimony from participants and appraisal forms as well as the formal results of accredited training programmes. Additionally, CEL are subject to independent external review and audit by external funders and bodies such as HE & WHSCT, OCNNI. The results of our work is also very apparent in the local media and online via social media. There is no harm from our purposes. Our beneficiaries are the residents of the Creggan area of Derry City and surrounding environs. There is no private benefit from our purposes.

What your organisation does

Creggan Enterprises (CE) runs the Ráth Mór centre in Derry, which offers a variety of multi-purpose workspace units for rent on very favourable terms. CE also provide support packages for new businesses and encourage the development of social partnerships and sustainable businesses, promoting equal opportunities for all. The Ráth Mór centre also

provides valuable subsidised business support to social enterprises and indigenous businesses, including: Business, Marketing & funding advice; Shared Resources; Customised/equipped office space. Creggan Enterprises deliver a number of social programmes including: • CE’s Unheard Voices (UV) Programme – funded by IFI –UV evidences its impact via an OBA report on a quarterly basis to the IFI’s management agent (Community Foundation N Ireland). • CE’s Hive Studio – funded by Housing Executive –Hive evidences its impact via a quarterly report to the Housing Executive. • CE deliver dedicated Youth Projects, including the ‘life hack’ initiative. Lifehack evidences its impact via a monthly and quarterly report to the IFI’s management agent (Rural Development Council) who also carry out a quarterly OBA review of outputs/outcomes/impacts. • CE also host and support Rath Mor Over 50’s club and Creggan Older Mens’ club. • Creggan Enterprises regularly receive support from local authorities and national funders to deliver regular free cultural events and activities for the whole community. • CE’s Biodiversity project works with local schools and the elderly to promote environmental awareness and healthy living. • CE’s Community Dialogue & Social Justice Programmes – work in a mediation capacity towards developing inclusive peaceful communities.

Charitable purposes

The promotion, for the benefit of the public, of urban regeneration in areas of economic, physical and social deprivation (and in particular the Creggan area) by all or any of the following means: (a) the relief of financial hardship (b) the relief of unemployment (c) the advancement of education, training or retraining, particularly among unemployed people, and providing unemployed people with work experience (d) the provision of financial assistance, technical assistance or business advice or consultancy in order to provide training and employment opportunities for unemployed people in cases of financial or other charitable need through help: (i) in setting up their own business, or (ii) to existing businesses (e) the creation of training and employment opportunities by the provision of workspace, buildings, and/or land for use on favourable terms (f) the provision of a wide variety of programmes / services which support economic and social inclusion (g) the provision of trauma support services, counselling and wellbeing programmes (h) the provision of intermediation, peace-building and reconciliation support service and programmes (i) the provision of personal development programmes and dedicated support activities for young people (j) the provision of wellbeing, educational, heritage and cultural support programmes and activities for older people and the general public (k) the provision of a neutral community venue, providing access to a range of free cultural, heritage and digital activities and events for all ages and backgrounds (l) such other means as may from time to time be determined subject to the prior written consent of the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.
