Public benefits

The public benefits that flow from our charitable purpose are: (a) The creation of employment, training and work experience opportunities for residents of the area of benefit and consequently: (i) a reduction in poverty, unemployment and hardship, leading to a better quality of life for the beneficiaries and improvements in health and well-being;

(ii) a greater sense among the beneficiaries of more fulfilled and purposeful lives, resulting in a safer, more stable and cohesive community. These benefits can be evidenced from records kept by various agencies of the number of jobs and training opportunities created and from evaluations of the work and impact of Brookeville Enterprises. (b) The increased efficiency and effectiveness of community and voluntary organisations, resulting in enhanced outcomes and service delivery and, consequently, an improved quality of life for those who benefit from the work of these organisations. These benefits can be demonstrated from internal records showing the range of support recipients, their impact and feedback from the community and voluntary organisations assisted. No harm arises from this charitable purpose. The beneficiaries are community and voluntary organisations and, ultimately, the general public. Some private benefit is obtained by the owners of small businesses who rent units on favourable terms, but this is ancillary and necessary to achieving this charitable purpose.
