Through measurement of access to the information through its website when the implementation has been completed. No possible harm. The documents are dated between 1875 and 1927. There are no direct

descendants of the Carvill Family. The general public and in particular those interested in genealogy and the commerce of the Newry area in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. None.

What your organisation does

The Society will recruit a professional to catalogue and interpret over 6000 documents which have been scanned at the State College of Pennsylvania, USA, and which have been donated to the Society. These documents will then be made available for search by the general public on a website called Carvill.org.

Charitable purposes

The society is established to advance the education of the public by the promotion, of the local history of the region surrounding Newry City and its environs of Counties Armagh, Louth & Down (hereinafter called the "area of benefit") to everyone without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political affiliation or religious belief, with particular emphasis on the commerce and trade carried on by merchants such as Francis Carvill & Sons. Further, cataloging and digitisation of the collection known as the “Carvill Papers”.
