Public benefits

The benefits are that the children learn and play in the same environment as where they go to school. They gain confidence and social skills whilst learning in a fun way. How the benefits have been demonstrated are through SBYCG meeting our funders targets i.e. the education authority and Antrim & Newtownabbey Council. We have been very

successful as we have had a waiting list of pupils who want to attend the Youth Club. We have on average 100 children every Friday night that thoroughly enjoy their time whilst in the YC. They are learning Health & Well being and doing exercise and being creative whilst having fun with their friends. It also strengthens the interpersonal skills and friendships in the school. The Volunteers also receive training and learn valuable skills that also enable them in their life whether that be at school or at work. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes of St Bernards's Youth Community Group The charity's beneficiaries are young people aged 5 to 11 years of age. There is no private benefit flowing from any of the purposes.

What your organisation does

Our Youth Club is solely for St. Bernard's Primary School Children. We offer a structured but flexible programme of events/activities/sports for the children Y2-Y7. Our children range from the age of four to eleven. Our group offers a service to the children of the local school and is located in the Elmfield area. There are a large proportion

of children who live within walking distance from the club. Elmfield is a largely populated area with many families with young children of school age. Our club offers a service were the young people can experience freedom in their own school out of school hours. The children are offered the opportunity to enjoy the fun packed programmes of projects and events on offer each Friday evening. We listen and bring each child's view and opinion into the planning of the projects. We want to empower each child giving them the confidence to develop skills, build their self-confidence and to reach their full potential in their own time. We want to take away any stigma that prevents them from being all that they can be in today’s society. We do this through volunteers from age 11+ giving their time each Friday night to help the Management Committee fulfil their objectives.
