The direct benefits which flow from the purpose The direct benefits which flow from the purpose include improved social inclusion and community networking in an isolated rural area. This will enhance the quality of life of all residents in Islandmagee, in particular young people, older people and other individuals in need in the community. We will
utilise community development approaches to bring this about which will provide wider benefits of greater levels of community activity and opportunities to volunteer. We can demonstrate this by: These benefits will be evidenced through monitoring of the Area Plan, feedback from Islandmagee Community Development Association’s monthly, public meetings and sub group meetings. It will also be evidenced by attendance at activities and feedback from participants as well as community feedback about the direct provision of services such as defibrillators, community clean ups etc. The purpose of our charity may lead to the following harm: Islandmagee Community Development Association purposes are not harmful and where there is private benefit it is incidental for example a sense of wellbeing to those who volunteer or appropriate training to enable volunteers, e.g. Charity Trustees, to effectively carry out their roles in delivering public benefit. ICDA is a structured organisation having robust policies and procedures in place in order to risk manage the organisation’s objectives.

We are a diverse group of volunteers who have come together to improve Islandmagee for the benefit of the inhabitants . ICDA was formed in 1996. The Village / Area Plan was incorporated into our Five Year Plan. This has been subdivided into six areas each with a sub group who present their plan to committee for approval. These Sub Groups are:
Communication, Health & Wellbeing, Environment, Education, Youth, Older People .
