Public benefits

Purpose 1 To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Ballymaconnelly Renewal Group and it’s environs. Benefit element The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include opportunities for advancing education, social welfare, recreation or other leisure-time occupation. The benefits include addressing loneliness by bringing

people together, many of whom may live on their own. Helping to benefit carers, and those with health related conditions which in some cases can be serious. Educating people, helping to achieve potential and improving knowledge, practical skills, community development, citizenship, providing social activities, including sport related sessions for older people. These benefits are demonstrated through participation and involvement in organised educational, social welfare and recreational activities. The purposes of our charity do not lead to any harm. Public element The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the Ballymaconnelly Townland and its environs. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose. Purpose 2 To advance knowledge and appreciation of the Ulster-Scots language and culture. Benefit element The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include enabling people to learn about the Ulster Scots language and culture. These benefits are demonstrated through verbal feedback from participants both from the Ballymaconnelly Renewal Group and from other participating groups and organisations. The purposes of our charity do not lead to any harm. Public element The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the Townland of Ballymaconnelly and its environs. The charity’s beneficiaries also the Ballymaconnelly Renewal Group including family members and other local groups and organisations. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose. Demonstration of public benefits: We have facilitated many consultations/evaluations with all beneficiaries which is a priority requirement from all funding bodies. We have undertaken a community survey when we first started as a community group and any other feedback can be given on a daily basis to members of the committee through verbal communication, attending quarterly meetings and/or AGM.

What your organisation does

This association was established to promote the benefit of inhabitants of the Ballymaconnelly area and its environs: provide facilities in the interests of social welfare - providing space for people to meet, get active within their own community thrpugh partticpating in the structured projects eg walking group, allotments group,community gardens

and riverside walk. addressing social and rural isolation, improving both mental and physical well being. Education - providing classes, talks on a wide range of subjects that have been requested by the members through consultations. Qualifications can be achieved on levels associated with subjects that can be utilised to help sustain the community - food and hygiene, child protection, level 1 OCN Horticulture, walk leaders. Recreation - social events creating opportunities for people to meet and have a chat, devlop new projects, trips and study visits, bowling, and physical activities for older people helping to improve both mental and physical wellbeing. Community development - community breakfast sessions, concerts, allotments and set up of associated groups, museum ehibitions, leading into tourism. Advance the knowledge and appreciation of the Ulster Scots language and culture (fife and drumming) - link into the Ullans group in Ballymoney.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to: promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Ballymaconnelly area and its environs (hereinafter described as "the area of benefit") without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion. It will do so by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; to advance knowledge and appreciation of the Ulster-Scots language and culture and to encourage understanding and acceptance of all indigenous cultures to the area of benefit.
