The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is to promote the glory of God through the holiness of its members, developed by prayer & active co-operation, acting under ecclesiastical guidance, in Mary's and the Church's work of overcoming evil & advancing the reign of Christ. These benefits are evidenced through increased numbers of volunteers
& volunteering opportunities, feedback form volunteers & committee involved in events & training & regular evaluation of all work carried out. There is no harm following form this purpose The beneficiaries are residents within Northern Ireland (Primary Schools, Hospitals, Psychiatric Hospitals, Homes for the elderly & the general public A private/personal benefit may arise to committee members who may from time to time avail of training programmes in matters such governance, but this is necessary for professional standards to be maintained to carry out the work of the Legion of Mary and ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries

The active works undertaken by legionaries include the following: apostolate in the parish, home visitation, promotion of enthronement of the Sacred Heart in homes, making the parish census, hospital visitation including visits to psychiatric institutions, work for the most wretched & dejected of the population, works for the young, promoting
prayer, retreats, promoting the celebration of the sacraments including the Eucharist, promoting adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
