Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from the Trust's purpose include the improved physical, mental and emotional well being of the children or young people in receipt of funding. Awards are made for the purchase of specific items or for funding the provision of services which have been identified specifically for the recipient in the hope of improving
their quality of life. The benefits identified above are demonstrated through feedback we receive, both formal and informal, from recipients and their families. In addition in many cases testimony is provided at the application stage from medical and other professionals with knowledge of the intended recipients advocating the benefits of the award. There is no harm arising from the purposes. The charity's benefits are provided to children and young persons in Northern Ireland who are in need or disadvantaged, whether material, physical, mental, or emotional. A private benefit flowing from the purposes of the charity is the positive publicity for Phoenix Natural Gas Ltd. and the wider natural gas industry. The charity was constituted under the direction of Phoenix Natural Gas on behalf of the local natural gas industry and Phoenix Natural Gas provide all administrative support to the charity by way of a gift in kind. The Trust fund benefits through a series of fundraising events which are organised predominantly by Phoenix and the wider natural gas industry. All monies raised for the charity go directly to children and local young people in accordance with the purpose of the charity and the private benefit of positive publicity to Phoenix Natural Gas Ltd and the wider gas industry is incidental and necessary.
