Public benefits

Carrowdore Early Years & Community Development Centre is an inclusive setting that aims to deliver and foster outstanding preschool education for all children. The setting aims to enhance the development and education of the young by encouraging parents/guardians to understand and provide for the needs of their children. This is achieved through,

offering appropriate play and learning facilities, morning pre-school and afternoon playgroup for younger children and after school clubs. The setting ensures the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the Company, ensuring that the Company offers opportunities for all children, regardless of religion, culture, race or means. The organisation encourages parental involvement in children’s learning by encouraging parents to become involved in the life and work of the center: committee involvement, regular meetings with staff to discuss progression, helping at outings and events, parent information and training and stay and play dates. The children learn through motivating play experiences that create necessary foundations for lifelong learning and life skills. Direct benefits include the gaining of skills – learned by engaging in stimulating play experiences – which allow children and their families to further their education, be part of the community and become positive citizens. Evidence of the benefits includes feedback from parents and other educational authorities. Carrowdore Early Years & Community Development Centre also aims to improve community relations through the improvement of the social, educational, cultural, and recreational activities within the village and surrounding rural area and this is achieved by developing associations with statutory authorities, voluntary organisations, local businesses and inhabitants, coordinating through a common effort the advancement of education in the interest of social welfare and developing, expanding and catering for a wide range of individuals and groups in particular the socially excluded and disadvantaged. The benefits to these aims encourage a sense of belonging and respect as individuals are more knowledgeable about and as such develop better understanding therefore value the voluntary work in the community. This is demonstrated through increased volunteering opportunities, enhanced equality and respect among residents in the area in addition to improved working and collaboration between residents and support agencies. Our increasing numbers of children and their families demonstrate that the people of the area believe they have a stronger voice when working together. There are no harms flowing from the purpose, nor are there any private benefits to individuals which are more than incidental.
