A development log is kept for each child. The playgroup is inspected annually by SHSCT ( Early Years) There is also feedback from Primary

one teachers on how well children from the playgroup have been prepared for primary school There is no harm emanating from the service the playgroup supplies The main beneficiaries are the children followed by parents Parent representatives on our committee are extremely important. Indirectly their children benefit from the playgroup and so do they as parents. This is incidental and necessary.

What your organisation does

We provide a playgroup facility in the village of Scotch Street, Portadown. We are registered with SHSCT for 24 children. We have two age groups: Those from 2 years and 10 months in the year before immediate pre school. These children are fee paying. The can attend a minimum of 2 days per week. The other children are in their immediate pre school

year and may be supported by the Education Authority via it PEAG funding. There can still be fee paying children in this group if the number of children exceeds the allocation by EANI. Overall the primary beneficiaries of Richmount Playgroup are aged between 2 years and 10 months and 4 years and 10 months. The secondary beneficiaries are the parents. Children in this playgroup develop their own personal, social and emotional skills before advancing onto primary school. The children learn through play and develop cognitive skills, motor skills . The playgroups attracts children from many different nationalities and religions. Mutual respect is engendered from an early age in the playgroup

Charitable purposes

The Group is established to promote play based learning environments for all children under statutory school age, (hereinafter referred to as the beneficiaries) of the Richmount and its surrounding environs in County Armagh. (hereinafter called the 'area of benefit') without distinction of age, gender, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and in particular: a) To advance the education of the beneficiaries by the provision of safe and satisfying group play, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the group, and to promote the preservation of health of the beneficiaries; and b) To support the values and principles of Early Years.
