Public benefits

The Gillian Adams Angel Foundation feels it meets the public benefit requirement because all its purposes satisfy the elements of the public benefit requirement as set out below. In practice, The Gillian Adams Angel Foundations' purposes are aimed at the relief of those in need by reason of ill-health through cancer, providing a range of benefits

to the public (ie. those diagnosed with cancer and their family members / carers). (i)The actual direct benefits that will flow from the charity's purposes are; as a result of the relief given through the provision of practical domestic support such as food vouchers, heating assistance and travel assistance and also through the provision of family experience opportunities includes:- improved health outcomes; improved mental, physical and emotional wellbeing; reduced levels of stress and anxiety; improved self-care to deal with the impact of cancer; individuals and families are better able to cope with their or their loved ones illness; feeling supported, cared for and valued at a very vulnerable time in their lives. (ii) These benefits are evidenced through individuals and their families feedback on improved health outcomes; improved mental, physical and emotional wellbeing; reduced levels of stress and anxiety; improved self-care to deal with the impact of cancer; being better able to cope with their or their loved ones illness; feeling supported, cared for and valued at a very vulnerable time in their lives. (iii) The purposes of the charity are not anticipated to cause any harm. (iv) The public will be the beneficiaries of the charity purposes as the assistance is available publicly. Through raising awareness with the public of the need for practical support to those affected by cancer and their families, benefits to the public include:- increased knowledge and understanding of the range of practical support needs and services available, the opportunity for beneficiaries to articulate their experiences regarding their practical needs with a view to improving future practical support services. (v) There are no private benefits gained as a result of activities of the charity.

What your organisation does

The Gillian Adams Angel Foundation provides a variety of practical support initiatives. The unique focus of The Gillian Adams Angel Foundation is that it is aims to meet the need in practical areas that may be experienced as a result of their cancer diagnosis. (a) Practical domestic services provided include:- food vouchers to ensure beneficiaries

nutritional needs are met in a time of challenge, heating assistance to alleviate financial stress and worries and ensure the beneficiaries heat need is met and transport and travel assistance to appointments and for treatments to ensure they access these if there are any difficulties. (b) Provision of family experience opportunities include fun days, days out, days that create memories ie. photo shoots etc. This provision can vary dependent on the family need and requirements. Other sources of support include awareness events e.g. talks, stalls, presentations - facilitating opportunities for beneficiaries to increase awareness.

Charitable purposes

The Gillian Adams Angel Foundation is established for the relief of those in need as a result of being affected by cancer, through the provision of practical assistance to those individuals and their families (hereinafter called "the beneficiaries") in Northern Ireland, particularly those within the North Antrim and East Londonderry areas and their environs (hereinafter called the "area of benefit"). The practical assistance will include but not be limited to; (a) practical domestic support; (b) family experience opportunities; (c) raising awareness of the need for practical support, to enable more practical support to be given to those affected by cancer and their families.
