Public benefits
All of the work of our charity is carried out in accordance with a Christian ethos, is Biblically based and not contradictory to Scripture. We have 5 charitable purposes which are: 1. The Prevention or relief of poverty 2. The advancement of education 3. The advancement of religion 4. The advancement of health or the saving of lives 5. The
advancement of citizenship or community development The direct benefits which flow from the prevention or relief of poverty are that our beneficiaries are provided with basic needs as well as skills to establish projects and bring in an income. The direct benefit flowing from the advancement of education is that our beneficiaries will gather knowledge in Religious Education; good morals as well as being helped in English and Cultural Awareness. The direct benefit flowing from the advancement of religion is that our beneficiaries will be educated from the Bible and be aware that they can have a personal relationship with God. The direct benefit flowing from the advancement of health or the saving of lives is that children's workers will be equipped to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse and know the relative steps to take in the case of a disclosure and that the child who may be the victim of abuse will receive the help and care necessary. The direct benefit flowing from the advancement of citizenship and community development is that our beneficiaries are encouraged to volunteer and help in the community. The benefits of the prevention or relief of poverty are evidenced through the distribution of knitted clothes and blankets. They will also be evidenced through the establishment of an agricultural project. The benefits of the advancement of education are evidenced through the hundreds of schools who have registered for our Bible Lesson Course. The benefits of the advancement of religion are evidenced by the demand there is for our lessons in order that children receive a copy of the Bible. The benefits of the advancement of health or the saving of lives is evidenced through the number of students who have taken our Child Protection Course. The benefits of citizenship and community development is evidenced by the number of volunteers who distribute and mark our lessons. There is no harm arising from any of our purposes The Charity's beneficiaries are the people of Kenya, Uganda and it's environs in Africa and also people in Northern Ireland and the UK who have their cultural learning and experiences enhanced by learning of our work. The only purpose that may have private benefit flowing from it is the advancement of citizenship or community development in that volunteers are sometimes given travelling expenses to help them travel to distribute our materials and this is incidental and necessary because they might otherwise not have sufficient funds to do the work.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
Our organisation offers free Bible Lessons for children whereby they are then presented with a free Bible upon completion of the first part of the course. They then use the Bible to complete the remainder of the lessons. Our volunteers also visit Schools, Sunday Schools and other organisations as invited to share with and teach the children. We
also offer training; both on the ground and online; for Pastors and other Children's workers. This is currently offered in Child Evangelism and Child Protection. By means of a lending library we make teaching materials and visuals available to the students to enable them to return to their locality and put into practice what they have been taught. We also distribute knitted hats, cardigans, jumpers and blankets to children in Schools and Children's Homes. In addition we donate some of these items to a local outreach group in Kenya who in turn distribute them. We encourage volunteers both within our organisation and in Church work. For example, we have volunteers who mark the lessons. We have plans to development agricultural projects whereby young people can be trained in agricultural methods. This should also be beneficial to Schools in Kenya and Uganda who are keen to have such projects as a means of supporting the income of the School. We raise awareness of our work through taking meetings, mostly in Northern Ireland. These can be in Churches and also House Fellowships. We also have opportunity to share with children here. This enhances their learning on various cultures and ways of life. We also have opportunities to share at missionary conventions in local Churches. This often means having a stand of literature which can be distributed to those who are interested in the charity.
