Public benefits

I The benefits which flow from purpose I is saving lives, mental health recovery, regaining self-esteem/self-worth, harm reduction and improving the quality of life of its beneficiaries. II The benefits from purpose II are a reduction in stress and anxiety, the strengthening of relationships and family bonds, remove the feelings of guilt,

emotional and physical support in a safe and non-judgemental environment, support and understanding from others with similar experiences. III The benefit flowing from purpose III is an overall improvement in the quality of life for everyone living in mid and east antrim area, happiness is contagious. IV The benefits of purpose IV are a reduction in the stigma surrounding mental health, an increase in the number of lifeguards(people who can spot the signs of those at risk of suicide) and a better understanding of suicide and self-harm. The benefits can be demonstrated through feedback from clients, their families and friends. they can also be identified through reports from trustees/counsellors etc. Due to the nature of our services client confidentiality is of the utmost importance. No there is no harm in any of our purposes. Our purposes are there for the benefit of anyone either living in or visiting mid and east antrim area. There is no private benefit flowing from any of our purposes.

What your organisation does

We have a 24hr helpline available for anyone with suicidal ideations or in despair, this helpline is monitored by pips larne volunteers during normal working hours and by lifeline outside of these hours, we are also contactable via social media which is closely monitored at all times by pips larne volunteers. We provide immediate crisis response

based on the risk of suicide and all calls are responded to generally within 24hrs at which point we will provide counselling services, alternative/relaxation therapies and support services. Depending on each individuals needs we may incorporate other professional bodies including GP, Crisis Response, Emergency Services and the community mental health team. We also have links to other valuable resources who can provide more specialist services such as Extern, Start 360, Zest, Action for Children, Network Personnel, The Hope Centre, Lighthouse, Naoimh Louise Foundation and many others. We also provide transport for vulnerable clients. No costs are incurred to our clients Pips Larne also provides bereavement support to those who have lost a loved one to suicide and we provide a range of services about self harm including support, information, training and consultancy to people who self harm, their friends and families. Pips Larne regularly run family support group meetings and intend to set up a permanent support group on completion of the renovation of our current premises. We promote and encourage positive mental health through our affiliation with Athletics clubs, football clubs, youth clubs, churches, horticulture, music, art and our local fire service. Pips larne provide training free to the public and/or any groups who approach us. We regularly host suicide and self-harm awareness events. We also avail of every opportunity at fundraisers for example to raise the general publics awareness of suicide, self-harm and the services available through Pips Larne in an attempt to remove the stigma surrounding mental health.

Charitable purposes

The objects of the Association shall be to: I. Work for the assistance of persons who are suicidal, despairing or in distress and thus reduce the incidence of suicide and self-harm by providing or assist in providing support, information and appropriate services and referral for treatment from professionals to enable such persons to receive immediate help, compassion and friendship; II. Alleviate distress and offer assistance to people who have suffered loss through suicide or anguish through self-harm by loved ones, in particular by the development of support systems within the community; III. Promote the fostering of positive mental health and to improve the emotional wellbeing of people residing in the area of benefit; IV. Advance the education of the public into, and raise awareness of, the causes and effects of suicide and self-harm and into matters relating to the nature of grieving, bereavement and the treatment and rehabilitation of individuals that self-harm.
