The direct benefits flowing from purpose a include cooperation with colleagues in San Diego, District Health Authority Mbarara Uganda, Ministry of Health Uganda in providing affordable hospital care, immunisation and health education to children and families in Mbarara. The benefits flowing from purpose b include training and empowering health care

staff in Uganda to deliver outreach services, education on malaria prevention, sanitation, etc to local community. [ambulance and hospital vehicle funded by Northern Ireland Group] c. The benefits arising from purpose c ensures no child is denied health care due to inability to pay. the benefits arising from purpose d are that health care staff maintain high standards of clinical practice and comply with continuous professional development. purpose a during the 2014-2015 fiscal year a total of 20325 children were treated with ages ranging from newborn to sixteen years of age and 5646 attended a weekly immunization clinic. purpose b : We admitted an increasing number of very premature babies transferred from other hospitals with respiratory distress and or neonatal infections; they were transferred due to the availability of oxygen and in recognition of the quality of care provided at Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital. Our treatment of these babies has improved due to the availability of Intravenous syringe drivers, Ohio tables with radiant warmers and Oxygen production plant received during the year. This allows us to monitor fluids, prevent fluid overload and continuous oxygen production to the hospital. purpose c is evidenced as no child has been denied treatment purpose d in 2016 the Hospital Nursing Director spent two weeks in RBHSC for development There is no harm flowing from the purposes. The charity’s beneficiaries are the children of Mbarara, Uganda. There is no private benefit flowing from the purposes.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to promote the benefit of children aged between 0 and 12 years in the Mbarara area and its environs in Uganda (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of gender, disability, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion by associating with the statutory authorities, voluntary and community organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to promote the preservation of health and to relieve poverty and to advance education in the area of benefit and in particular: a) to co-operate with any local authority, charity or other organisation in the maintenance of the Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital in Mbarara; and b) to provide or assist others in providing health education and medical supplies to the inhabitants of the area of benefit c) to maintain the Northern Ireland Charity Care Fund in Uganda to ensure no child is denied treatment at the hospital due to their inability to pay. d) To empower, facilitate and mentor hospital staff though education and mentoring.
