Public benefits
The benefit that flows from our purpose is the promotion of enjoyment, better understanding and advancement of the arts of speech & drama and music for the benefit of people, especially but not exclusively the young, in the Carrickfergus area and its environs by way of participation in, as a competitor or as an audience member in our annual
community-based festival. At our annual community-based festival each participating competitor benefits from an adjudication of their performance from a professionally trained adjudicator which is intended to encourage, train and develop their artistic ability in either speech & drama or music. These performances are witnessed by an audience, usually family and friends, who get the benefit to see and hear both the performance and the adjudication. These benefits are evidenced by the ongoing support of the local schools, private teachers and tutors who continue to enter their pupils in the annual festival using this as a means to develop, encourage and stimulate artistic performance. Schools can also benefit from the professional adjudication ahead of GCSE, A level or other examinations. The charity’s beneficiaries are all of the competitors and the general public who form the audience, from the Carrickfergus area and beyond. There is no private benefit or harm flowing from the purpose of our organisation.

Carrickfergus Musical Festival Association carries out its purpose by facilitating performers in the performing arts of Speech & Drama and Music. The Festival is held annually and covers Speech & Drama and music performed by both individuals and groups. As noted previously the festival is preformed by Amateurs, judged by professionals and organised
by volunteers. We provide a platform for the performers who are accompanied by parents, guardians, teachers, friends and supporters. We do not work in close or regular unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable adults and our safeguarding policy is circulated and distributed prior to the commencement of the festival. The festival usual commences on the last week of April and runs to the end of the first week of May each year. Although the festival is held in Carrickfergus we receive entries from throughout the province and further afield. Carrickfergus Musical festival Association is affiliated to The British and International Federation of festivals for Music, Dance and Speech
