Public benefits

Purposes •For the advancement of religion in promoting the faith of Jesus Christ and spread of His principles as those found in the scriptures. •For the prevention or relief of those in need or unemployed by: providing training in furniture upcycling and repair, essential skills, social and leisure classes; and providing volunteering

opportunities, working with others in a workshop and a shop sales environment, in order that we give purposeful activity to those who need assistance to re-establish them back into society. •The promotion of the Christian faith throughout the world by raising funds to support the work of other charities Benefits In relation to the purposes stated above the direct benefits that will flow from each one are as follows: The benefit for volunteers in purpose one is that they are provided with a working environment showing how they can all help each other and work together as told in the scriptures. The charity hold regular prayer meetings and whilst everyone is invited there is no obligation on them to attend but this encourages them in helping and working together. The benefit in purpose two is the increase in confidence, motivation and self-belief while learning new skills which will help volunteers gain employment in the future and ultimately improve their quality of life giving them a much needed start in life. The skills provided are of basic DIY, carpentry and upcycling of goods donated. This helps each person become more employable learning basic workplace practices prepares them for being employed. Currently the volunteers benefit learning numeracy and literature skills by learning in a shop and workshop environment. The benefits are demonstrated through the recording of worksheets completed by the volunteers in the various skills being provided. The benefit in purpose three which flow from this Giving missionaries, pastors and leaders greater opportunity to share their Christian faith and the work they do for God, to a wider audience within the Christian faith and the general public. Promoting sacrificial giving by others of their finances, time, talents and skills for the advancement of the Christian faith. These benefits are demonstrated through: Number of times others are informed about the work of the charity and those the charity supports. Willingness by others to engage in charitable giving of their finances, time, talents and skills for the benefit of the general public. The beneficiaries are: Any member of the general public. The type of beneficiary provided for tend to incorporate those who are disadvantaged in the labour market i.e. long term unemployed, lacking confidence and esteem and those with addictions, but all are keen to develop their skills. The purposes of our charity should not lead to any harm. The charity can confirm there is no possibility of harm that could come from any of the benefits 1 to 3. The private benefit that occurs as a result of delivering the public benefits outlined above is that we use resources to buy materials from public suppliers or provide subsistence or travel to our volunteers and private gain will occur, however without using funding or resources in this way we could not attain the intended public benefit of our objectives. Another private benefit that arises from the service we provide is that from time to time we will provide training to mainly volunteers (though sometimes staff or trainers) and local residents and this training provides essentially transferable skills which could lead to employment opportunities for a volunteer, however without accessing training, the organization could not deliver its public benefit to the general public. We utilise premises which are in the ownership of our employees but our trustees ensure that this arrangement is accountable and transparent.

What your organisation does

The organisation carries out this purpose through delivering projects which include the management of a charity shop and accompanying work space which supports the teaching of new skills or refresher courses for those seeking entry into the workforce after periods of unemployment – a befriending service accompanies this for those suffering mild to

moderate mental ill health, and support services for those who have experienced life trauma or loss. The work space and charity shop generate funds which are used to support the work of the charity and any surplus generated is donated to other charities.
