Public benefits
The direct benefits for people in Crumlin and surrounding area include improved education standards, enhanced participation in community activities associated with the Irish Language and Culture and access to facilities for education, sport and leisure at rates which take account of people’s financial circumstances. Participants gain a better
understanding of all aspects of Irish culture and opportunities to improve knowledge and skills. Pre-primary children and other young people gain improved education and other skills whilst parents benefit from access to pre-school childcare at affordable rates. The community benefits from improved facilities providing a range of activities to meet the needs of all ages and from greater support to play a more active part in their local community and in education and employment to improve life chances. Our organisation also provides support and assistance to other organisations in delivering charitable services in the Crumlin area. Benefits are evidenced through ongoing feedback from participants, from inspections by Education Authority and Social Services; the continued attraction of increasing numbers to the Nursery, Primary School and Family Centre; the numbers of participants in activities, achievement of qualifications and/other recognition; through use of the centre and the range of services provided; through attendance at and participation in after schools activities and feedback from parents and children; through parent and pupil satisfaction and inspections; by improved qualifications and increased participation in work and leisure opportunities and through ongoing community feedback and through links with other charitable and sporting organisations. No harm is identifiable in meeting our general purpose statement, Purposes 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 whilst purposes 3 and 2 respectively carry a small risk of competition with other providers and a minimal risk of injury. Both are outweighed by the benefits. The beneficiaries of our purposes are those of all ages living in the Crumlin and surrounding area who wish to participate in education and community and leisure activities through the medium of Irish and who wish to enhance their understanding of all aspects of Irish culture Any private benefits obtained are limited to those employed to teach or tutor children, young people and adults and are incidental to our purposes

Coiste Ghaeloideachas Chromghlinne (CGC) is a non-denominational, Irish language community-based organisation established by a group of volunteers in 2002. Our primary aim is to promote the Irish language, culture and heritage for the community in Crumlin and its environs. To meet these needs, services and facilities are developed, managed and
delivered through the Family Centre - Ionad Teaghlaigh Ghleann Darach (ITGD). CGC and ITGD collaborate to maintain services for all ages and to facilitate programmes for our youth, senior citizens, men's group, parents and toddlers support group, to organise family events and to manage the non-statutory pre-school facilities - Naíonra and Naíscoil Ghleann Darach. We work diligently as a registered charity to alleviate poverty, hardship, inequality and exclusion in the community, and we encourage active participation for all, regardless of age, race, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation. The activities we offer build positive relations with other groups in the village and strong links have been established over the years with local schools, environmental groups and clubs from different backgrounds and traditions. We currently run a Club Óige (Youth Club) each week and a Scéim Samhraidh (Summer Scheme) each year, along with a range of other youth-orientated programmes. Our Irish classes for adult learners run twice weekly, and we host and provide an annual Christmas dinner for senior citizens. We organise a wide variety of workshops, talks and events throughout the year, geared towards the promotion of Irish language, language-based arts, and cultural heritage.
