Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include, improved mantal health, releif of anxiety and loneliness, increased community involvement, improved social interaction, increased sense of well-being and friendship and improved physical health in the elderly people who attend the Centre. These benefits will be evidenced by feed-back from
members attending the Day Centre in the form of questionnaires and the regular evaluation of our services. The purposes of our organisation are beneficial but harm may occur in the transportation of elderly people coming to and from the Centre. This harm will be out-weighed by the benefits by ensuring the training of staff in safe handling, the regular servicing of vehicles and carrying out regular risk assessments. The charities beneficiaries are elderly people living in the area of west Belfast who are lonely or who are vulnerable in some way. They may have minor health problems which prevent them from accessing other forms of community involvement. The staff of the Centre are paid a minimum rate salary which is neccessary in helping the charity to achieve the purpose for which it is established and is incidental. Therefore ther is no private benefit flowing from this purpose.
