Public benefits
The pubic benefit flowing from the purpose of Mid Ulster Community Services are that people who are disadvantaged because of age, mental or physical disability, sickness, poverty, financial hardship or rural isolation have access to affordable transport provided by the local community where there is a lack of conventional public or private
transport or where such transport is unsuited to the particular needs of the above beneficiaries. Those who benefit included people who have no access to other forms of transport who may be elderly, disabled, poor, in ill health and have a need to attend health centres, hospitals, or just everyday shopping needs or visiting friends or family. Other community organisations engaged in looking after the needs of beneficiaries such as those listed above can also benefit by accessing the services and vehicles controlled by Mid Ulster Community Services. The benefits are measured through regular feedback from users, evaluations with volunteers and staff and other stakeholders. There is no harm flowing from the purposes of Mid Ulster Community Services.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
Mid Ulster Community Services Ltd (Out and About) provides affordable accessible community transport services in response to the needs of beneficiaries from Northern Ireland. It secures grants and income to help it support the provision of subsidised transport for those beneficiaries in need of such services. The organisation provides these
services by using community mini-buses and volunteer cars. It also informs other community organisations how they can enable those in their own community to avail of the various means of transport which the organisation can provide to enable them to access local services in accordance with their needs. The organisation also works in partnership with other transport providers so as to ensure that alternatives or linkages to other forms of transport services are available to individuals or appropriate community organisations.
