Public benefits

Purpose One The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include an improved standard of living and greatly reduced levels of stress and anxiety not only for the recipient but also for the recipient’s dependents. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from the recipients and those directly involved in administering the funds. This

purpose does not lead to harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are Freemasons, their wives, children and families and the families and widows of deceased Freemasons whether situated in Ireland or Overseas. There is no private benefit from this purpose apart from costs associated with its administration. Purpose Two The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are an increased capacity by those bodies to carry out their charitable activities. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from the appropriately funded charity. Assistance will only be extended to other charities where there is no harm flowing from this purpose. The charity’s immediate beneficiaries are those charities obtaining funding from the charity. The ultimate beneficiaries are those individuals and organisations who are the beneficiaries of the funded charity. Assistance will only be extended to other charities where there is no private benefit to any individual or organisation from their involvement with the charity, or where the private benefit is declared to be no more than incidental.

What your organisation does

Tyrone and Fermanagh Local Masonic Benevolent Fund Committee raise funds for our charitable purposes by voluntary giving at meetings of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Tyrone and Fermanagh throughout the year. Funds are also raised by donations from other Masonic bodies. Applications for assistance are processed by the Committee and grants/awards

made to applicants when after scrutiny the relief of poverty test has been satisfied. We also at the discretion of our trustees afford financial assistance for other charitable purposes as defined in the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008. We co-operate with other Charity Committees who operate in the Masonic Province of Tyrone and Fermanagh.
