Purpose (i) Dromore 2000 Ltd operates to increase public prosperity and employment opportunities in Dromore, Tyrone. This is achieved by working in partnership with local, public and private agencies to create a favourable environment for inhabitants and private enterprises, located in Dromore. Dromore is an area with significant social, economic
and physical deprivation with higher than average levels of unemployment. (NISRA) From two previously derelict houses, Dromore 2000 have created a building consisting of five modern work units. These are fully let and provide local employment. The rental income generated is reinvested for the benefit of the local community with funds used for feasibility studies, consultancy, environmental improvement projects and funding applications. Dromore 2000 Ltd focuses on activities that directly relate back to providing benefits for the inhabitants of the village. Our income, funding applications, sponsorship seeking are all are redirected back into the community of Dromore. Purpose (ii) Dromore 2000 Ltd work towards creating a favourable environment for business development and for the inhabitants of Dromore by: *Town Environment Working with government agencies and public service providers, Dromore 2000 Ltd have facilitated an improved town infrastructure, with the creation of a bypass, new footpaths and electric and telecom wiring going below surface. Owners of all buildings in the town are assisted and encouraged to invest in their properties regularly. A spruce up scheme is organised, offering incentives to owners to tidy up and paint their properties. The increased appeal and vibrancy of the town has benefited all the residents of Dromore, evidenced by the number of business start-ups and private housing developments. *Creating a focus for the centre of the village. A themed clock tower and a public sculpture were created within the town boundary. A public riverside walkway was created which is free and safe to use by all the community. These projects, spearheaded by Dromore 2000 Ltd, have contributed to a sense of pride and increased feeling of ownership within the population of Dromore. *Social Inclusion Dromore 2000 Ltd organise, fundraise and carry out the annual Christmas Lights activities. We aim to create a positive atmosphere in Dromore during the Christmas festivities. The Christmas Lights encourages economic activity in the town as well as creating a feel good factor for visitors and inhabitants. Dromore 2000 Ltd organise the annual Dromore 10K Run and 5K Fun Run. This event promotes a number of health and well being initiatives, with the entire community supporting it as it approaches its tenth year. This initiative promotes locals to take part in physical activity; we work in partnership with local leisure centres and sporting groups to encourage participation. *Volunteering Dromore 2000 Ltd coordinates a full schedule of activities annually, with all events, projects and initiatives carried out by teams of local volunteers. Dromore 2000 Ltd recognises the multiple benefits that volunteering can have for the community and for the individuals giving their time. Volunteering within the community enhances the sense of pride in the local area and provides increased employment opportunities. *Promotion of Enterprise Dromore 2000 Ltd offer business acumen to start up enterprises including other social enterprises within the Village. Provision of a site and management support enabled the establishment of a cross community pre-school facility, Dromore Community Play School. This enables local people to have affordable child care and thus be available for employment. The local Leisure Complex operated by Dromore Education and Community Partnership has also had input from Dromore 2000 Ltd. These initiatives promote employment opportunities and economic growth. Dromore 2000 Ltd assist in the organisation of the annual 10K charity run and the annual charity cycle. The charity organise the Christmas lighting for the town. Dromore 2000 Ltd rent their building to Western Health & Social Services Trust who run a day centre for individuals with learning disabilities. The organisation provides advice and
encourage the regeneration of the local existing businesses in the town. The organisation gives relief of financial hardships, increases employment opportunities through participation in job creation, stimulation and promotion with new enterprises in the area. Promotes the benefit of the inhabitants of the area by creating and providing facilities for their employment and training. Assists financially or otherwise by means of loans, for those seeking to establish a new business or to expand an existing business within the area, which will create employment opportunities for inhabitants in the area. Dromore 2000 Ltd will organise support in the form of expert advice, practical assistance and material resources for any individual or organisation. The organisation will carry out maintenance, improvement or provision of public amenities. Will preserve buildings or sites of historic or architectural interest. Give provisions for recreational facilities for the public regardless of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or other circumstances.
