The public benefits that flows from the purpose of (1) Educational activities that focused on multi- cultural world strengthen people’s knowledge and also help shape civic attitudes on values as tolerance, respect for those who are different and dialogue between cultures. (2) Exploring similarities and differences in cultural expectations

improves capacity to understand and relate to others, and helps to build a sense of belonging amongst people and their families. (3) Racism is often based on an ignorance of others. This ignorance can lead to negative stereotyping and hostility. We are able to directly challenge stereotyping and ignorance of other cultures by demonstrating, sharing and educating about the different cultures within N. Ireland. These benefits are evidenced through the increasing number of participants, audiences from our events, number of students and members joining our group and the feedback received from the patrons, funders and the general public. There is no harm arising from any of the purposes Beneficiaries of Success Dragon & Lion Dance Association are people of different races living or visiting Belfast area. There is no private benefit flowing from the purpose of our organisation.

What your organisation does

This is done by teaching/performing of the Chinese martial arts and the Chinese lion dance to people of every race, religion, gender and culture. We aim to spread good will to every segment of the community in Northern Ireland. Students are taught in the hope that they will be able to pass on their knowledge to generations to come.

Charitable purposes

3.1 The Association is established to advance education in Chinese art and culture for the benefit of the inhabitants of Northern Ireland (hereinafter called the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation and in particular: a) to promote, develop and provide training in the Chinese martial art Hung Fut and the art of Chinese Dragon and Lion Dancing; b) to present, promote, organise, manage and produce programmes of cultural and educational value including entertainments and exhibitions; c) to promote the art and culture of other ethnic groups and cultural traditions so that knowledge and mutual understanding is enhanced between people from different cultural traditions and ethnic groups within Northern Ireland.
