Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from our purpose include the public having better treatment options available for blood cancers, improved health outcomes, increased understanding and increased survival rates. The benefit from our subsidiary purpose is to enhance public understanding of blood cancers, bringing about earlier detection methods and

earlier diagnosis, which will result in increased survival rates and improved health outcomes for patients with blood cancers. These benefits will be evidenced through research outcomes being published in medical and research journals, our supporters will regularly be kept up to date on latest research publications and outcomes through the charity newsletter, website and social media. Benefits for our subsidiary purpose will be evidenced through, feedback received, following educating public through blood cancer awareness month on education of blood cancers and levels of awareness they have. In carrying out the purposes of our charity, medical research conducted, may on occasion require the use of animal testing. The charity is a member of AMRC and complies with all AMRC requirements and QUB requirements and regulations in relation to the use of animal testing. The benefit of any future research requiring the use of animals will always outweigh the risk of harm. The charity's intended beneficiaries are members of the public who have had blood cancers and the public in general throughout Northern Ireland, making them aware of the signs and symptoms of blood cancers. A private benefit flowing from our main purpose is that students supported by the charity will obtain Masters and Post Graduate Qualifications. This is however incidental as it is necessary for students to conduct and carry out novel research into the causes and cure of blood cancers to achieve the charity's objective in supporting research into the causes and cure of blood cancers. A private benefit may ensue to Trustees of the charity who will gain training and experience in carrying out the role of trustee which will enhance their skills.
