Public benefits
St. Luke's Family Centre provides public benefit through the advancement of community development by developing and inspiring civic values and encouraging voluntary and community activity within the local Colin community area through the centre's service delivery. We provide a community centre which promotes both social inclusion and volunteering
within the local community and to the wider community and voluntary sector. The centre provides services to local families within the Colin community including areas of social deprivation in Twinbrook, Poleglass, Lagmore and Kilwee. The centre supports children aged 0-4 years in a crèche facility to facilitate their parents and families to develop their community citizenship and engagement within the wider Colin area and sector at large. St Luke's Family Centre annually evaluate the impact of our work directly with our Service Users i.e. Parents/Carers of their children (0-4 years) we support daily. We conduct regular external evaluations with Sure Start regarding the quality provision of childcare services and the emotional wellbeing of children in our creche. In addition, we regular complete other evaluations of the social impact of our related works on behalf of our funders including Belfast City Council, Department for Communities, Halifax Foundation, John Moores Foundation amongst others. Furthermore, there is no private benefit gained by trustees nor harm which affects the livelihoods of our service users or beneficiaries in furtherance of the charity's mission.

Our programmes focus on self improvement, health, physical and emotional needs, empowerment, parenting, essential skills and job skills. Service users are enabled to access the courses and activities through the provision of a daily creche facility and drop-in centre. Our creche staff are highly qualified and work closely with parents and carers
around the physical, emotional, social and academic development of the children attending. We welcome all ages groups and work with three generations on a daily basis, but in particular we aim to target the most disadvantaged and hard to reach by working with family outreach workers and the local Neighbourhood Partnership organisations. We support individuals and families, parents and carers with the ethos of life long learning. We are currently working with around 200 families from the 'Colin' and wider area and have 160 children under the age of four registered on our creche database. We also serve the senior members of the community who meet twice a week and attend many cross community activities. We have weekly activity sessions for adults with special needs and /or disabilities and also run support sessions for those with mental health and addiction issues. Our work is about empowering individuals and families to overcome the hardships that are entrenched in a highly deprived community. Through meeting the basic needs of security and feeling safe, we can then nuture, support and encourage, build confidence and self esteem, providing oppourtunities to learn news skills through volunteering and peer support. We support and encourage them to become more pro active in their community, build their capacity so that they can reach their full potential.
