Public benefits

The Trustees believe that our purposes satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the provision of funds for other charitable and community organisations as well as individuals and encouraging volunteers to help alleviate poverty and improve conditions of education, health and

well-being and family life of children, teenagers and adults in Northern Ireland and overseas which in turn promotes the development, education and experiences of young people. Benefits are evidenced through internal evaluations and feedback from the recipients including producing short presentations for the Trustees outlining their experiences, feedback from partnering charities and educational institutions which may form part of the projects, feedback from beneficiaries both in Northern Ireland and the international community. Potential for harm could arise in relation to the participation of children and vulnerable adults however this is mitigated through having all relevant and necessary safeguarding policies in place to protect them and ensuring they are adhered to at all times. The beneficiaries of these purposes are the general public in Northern Ireland and internationally. A private benefit to trustees may arise from an ongoing programme of training and good governance and finance etc. Through this training trustees may gain skills which are transferable to other settings. These skills are incidental and necessary to ensure that the benefit is provided to the beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

The Trust Fund manages funds raised for its purposes and oversees the application of funds for and implementation of any service projects which might be entered into in the furtherance of those purposes. The Fund is used to facilitate a wide array of different projects in the areas of vocational and community service, together with assisting

fundraising for other charities, especially in overseas aid. Vocational and youth service projects include the provision of experienced volunteers in interview and goal setting practice, together with exchange programmes for the development of youth, and encouraging leadership. The fund contributes to international projects such as Shelterbox and to the Rotary Foundation charity projects through its Annual Programmes Fund and the End Polio Now programme which benefits from matching funding from the Bill and Miranda Gates Foundation.
