Public benefits
The Association has two key objects: A. The purpose is to advance public education in and to preserve the Gaelic heritage, language and culture The direct benefits that flow from Purpose A is more developed knowledge and understanding of the traditions of the Gaelic heritage, including more widespread practice of the Gaelic language and knowledge
of local history and culture A second benefit is public enjoyment through provision of exhibitions, demonstrations, lectures and other events. These benefits are evidenced through level of participation in organised events and recorded numbers of visitors to exhibitions. There are no harmful effects of this purpose. The beneficiaries are the general public who choose to visit Co Tyrone and in particular, by virtue of geographical location, the inhabitants of Co Tyrone. B. The purpose is to promote community participation in healthy recreation, in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of Gaelic sports. The direct benefits that flow from Purpose B is increased participation in healthy sports which will have positive effects on the health of those involved. In addition the benefits will also include improved community engagement. These benefits will be evidenced through the number of sporting events and participants engaging in activities promoted by or at facilities provided by or supported by the Association. The purpose may lead to physical injury to those involved in playing sports. This risk is minimal due to required health and safety conditions and is outweighed by the health benefits to those who will be playing sports. The beneficiaries are those who are currently and in the future will be involved in playing, coaching and organising gaelic sports. In particular, by virtue of geographical location, the population of Co Tyrone will particularly benefit.
