Tuesday’s Child Public benefit statement Our beneficiaries are vulnerable children throughout the world in particular children living in extreme hardship or that live in areas ravaged by war. Our first purpose is for the protection and preservation of health among children in any part of the world. The benefits which flow from this purpose is
that they will have improved health and well-being and will be safe from harm. These benefits are evidenced from the projects that we have financially assisted to date which include the provision of medicines and health care, rescue of children from danger as well as recreational activities to help with the children’s overall well-being. In Gaza, for example, we have supported children in schools for children who are deaf and blind, and children traumatised by war, since 2007. In Brazil, we have been supporting the Happy Child Programme for children with HIV since 2007. In Nairobi, we support a project that rehabilitates street children addicted to glue. In South Sudan we support St. Daniel's Children's Hospital with medicines and supplies and food for babies and children. In Bosnia-Herzegovina, we have support recreational projects for children living in orphanages. This year, in response to the refugee crisis, we have been supporting the provision of safe shelters for child boat refugees along with the provision of clothes, shoes, hygiene items, accommodation costs, the provision of sports and leisure items, first aid and medicines, blankets, tents and sleeping bags. The benefits which flow from our key purpose of relieving poverty is that children and their families are being assisted with basics to live with human dignity and a better quality of life. This is demonstrated by the various humanitarian projects that we have assisted to date which include the provision of food aid, provision of clean drinking water, provision of clothes, shoes, etc. We also try to respond to humanitarian disasters where children often suffer the most, are at highest risk from deprivation and injustice e.g. we have provided aid to children affected by the Pakistan Floods, the Tacloban disaster in The Philippines, landslide in Chile, East African famine, Gaza war, Syrian war, the current boat refugee crisis. In Uganda, for example, we have been supporting the Children of Nebbi project since 2012 which has provided clothes to 902 children to date. We support a food hamper programme to 3000 children in the Gaza strip on a regular basis. We plan on sending more volunteers out to help with our work e.g. to Sicily later this year to help with the boat refugees. The benefits which flow from our purpose of advancing education is that children are given the opportunity to learn and gain an education which will assist them into adulthood and should help them work their way out of poverty. These benefits are evidenced from the projects that we have financially assisted to date which include the Hands of Care and Hope Project in Nairobi which rescues child scavengers and enrols them into schools and then supports the schools with essentials such as books and food. We are also providing financial assistance towards the building of a new school in Karnataka, India; providing educational grants to children orphaned by Boko Haram in Nigeria; provision of educational materials for children with disabilities in the Wajir Centre of Rehabilitation for Children with Disabilities, North East Kenya and educational support of Syrian refugee children in the Lebanon. We also try to advance the education of the public in Northern Ireland by promoting awareness of this work including the breaches of human rights of children. We have held prayer vigils and candlelight vigils to pray for peace for children living in areas ravaged by war such as Syria and Gaza. There is no harm (we work with charity partners on the ground) and no private benefit from our work.

Tuesday's Child provides humanitarian relief to children living in areas of the world ravaged by war and extreme poverty. We provide, food aid support, clean water, educational support and health-care to children and their families. We also provide recreational activities to children living in war zones to help traumatised children and promote

Our first project was helping children with disabilities in a little school, Sunce, in Mostar, in the grounds of an old army barracks on the front line of the former Bosnian Serbian war.
