PUBLIC BENEFIT Dunmurry Community Association provides a public benefit to the local community through the provision of social and recreation activities and through workshops, training and personal development courses. By participating in social and recreation activities, local people engage in more social interaction and experience less isolation.
Through access to training and qualifications individuals become more skilled and have greater access to job opportunities which promotes well-being and encourages everyone to become more involved in community life. The Association provides space for the young people of the area where they can meet with their peers and take part in activities and programmes specifically targeted to their needs. The Public Benefit arising from these activities is that young people have a safe place to socialize and participate in their community, interact and engage with other young people and other members of the community and develop skills and confidence that enables them to develop a greater sense of citizenship. The community benefits as the young people are less likely to be involved in Anti-Social Behaviour and more involved in their local community in a positive way which results in a safer, more stable and cohesive community. The local community values the natural and built environment of Dunmurry and surrounding area; the Association is committed to conserving the built and natural heritage of the area, promoting awareness of and ensuring access to the flora and fauna of the Lagan Valley. The public benefits through access to the natural environment and the greater sense of social and personal wellbeing this promotes. HOW DEMONSTRATED Dunmurry Community Association receive feedback from the community through informal chats, face to face feedback, events and activity evaluation and monitoring forms, Annual General Meeting, community meetings, and board meetings. BENEFICIARIES The beneficiaries of Dunmurry Community Association include our committee members, the members of the local community who participate directly in our activities and programmes, their family members and the wider community through maintaining a more stable and cohesive community. The wider public in Northern Ireland benefits through the conservation of our local heritage by gaining access to the natural and built environment of Dunmurry and receives the health benefits of the freshness provided through the preserved natural environment of the area. PRIVATE BENEFIT Any private benefit that might be generated is incidental to the work of the Association. HARM There is absolutely no harm to anyone as a result of the work of Dunmurry Community Association whether directly or indirectly.

We run a part-time office three days a week and run community projects and events on a regular basis. We engage constantly with local representatives and statutory bodies and other organisation to design and deliver projects of benefit to the community in the area of helping to improve life opportunities through community capacity building,
training and development and helping relieve poverty and improve life and job prospects and access to services. Some of our projects and programmes include Youth Activities, Senior Citizens Club, Monthly Advice Centre, Media Hub, Ethnic Minority Support, Cross Community Engagement, Training and Development, Community Education, and a number of other programmes and activities. We also provide leadership support for other local organisations based in the Dunmurry area. We work in partnership with other organisation and engage with the wider community to promote good community relations through different programmes and projects.
