Public benefits
Purpose 1: The relief of those in need - by reason of age The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include awareness raising of existing and emerging needs within communities, the enabling of older people to overcome barriers to services and the identification of new services to meet gaps in provision. Further benefits are an improvement
in the engagement processes with statutory organisations to help address concerns and to deliver accessible services, a reduction in the fear of crime, the reduction of deprivation and an increase in mental and physical health and well-being of older people. The benefits are demonstrated by the number of older individuals engaged, the range of services provided, the number of referrals from and to statutory services, the number of services accessed, and the new services provided. This is demonstrated by feedback/statistics received from internal evaluation (client survey/interviews), national and local statistics (eg NINIS) and independent evaluation from statutory bodies, Community Associations, funding agents and others This purpose does not lead to harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in Newry and its environs and the wider region in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The benefits are demonstrated by the numbers of volunteers and volunteering opportunities, the number and range of projects developed, funding applied for and received, Social Return on Investment (SROI) analysis and physical improvements in local areas. Further benefits are the increase in the capacity of existing com/vol groups, improved administration of programmes, adoption of robust governance procedures and an increase in the numbers engaged from “hard to reach groups” in the local community This is demonstrated by feedback/statistics received from internal evaluation (client survey/interviews), national and local statistics and independent evaluation from statutory bodies, Community Associations, funding agents and others. This purpose does not lead to harm. The charity’s’ beneficiaries are people living in Newry and its environs and the wider region in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by a Trustee who is also a member of a com/vol group to whom we provide services. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
