Purpose 1 – Offering appropriate play facilities, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the Group, ensuring that the Group offers opportunities for all children. The direct benefits which flow from purpose 1 include raising awareness of age appropriate play based learning among
parents and carers and the provision of early education for children under statutory school aged in Plumbridge Village and the surrounding community. Purpose 2 – Encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their families and promoting public interest in and recognition of such needs of such children and their families in the local areas. The direct benefit that flows from this purpose is the advancement of services provided by the playgroup. This benefit is evidenced through continual assessment of children by staff, and assessment of staff by management. The beneficiaries are the children and families connected to playgroup. The organisation is a voluntary organisation managed by an elected group of parents on a yearly basis. The main purpose is to offer pre-school education in the local community for children in their final pre-school year, including areas of learning, social integration and emotional well-being. The playgroup offers high quality activities and
age appropriate play experiences to promote young children's learning in all areas of their development in line with the Pre-School Curricular Guidance including :Personal, Social & Emotional Development, Language Development, Physical Development, Early Mathematical Experiences, The Arts and The World Around Us. Our group runs five morning sessions per week, we are located in the village of Plumbridge and our catchment area include Plumbridge and outlying rural district. We work in partnership with parents to support their children's learning ensuring quality of opportunity for all children and their families. We liaise with other health professionals to share information and to support children who have special needs and who require additional support. All staff are qualified, highly experienced and are committed to ongoing professional development in order to provide the best outcomes for the children and their families attending our group. The playgroup actively encourages the involvement of parents to share in their children's learning by encouraging them to take on roles within the Management Committee, participating in fund raising activities and participating on outings with their child. The management committee holds several fund-raising activities throughout the year to support the finances required to keep the place running smoothly and the upkeep/ replacement of equipment.
