Antrim and District Historical Society exists to enhance public education and disseminate information regarding the history of Antrim Town and its environs. This is demonstrated through carrying out research, surveys and investigations to find out this information regarding the area. This information is conveyed at meetings, our monthly meetings
which visitors are welcome to, lectures, classes, exhibitions and also through publications which have been put together to communicate the information. The benefit is increased knowledge and learning which is provided to all, those involved in pulling the information together and those who wish to find out the history of the Antrim area and its environs. The benefit is for the residents of Antrim and its environs but also the public at large as those from further afield within Northern Ireland so that they can gain knowledge from learning about the history of Antrim town and its environs. The benefits are demonstrated through an improved quality of life for the inhabitants of the area through increased social interaction and learning, bringing the history of the area to life so that it can be experienced by all ages currently and for generations to come as it is recorded for future reference. This purpose does not lead to harm. There is no private benefit.

Antrim and District Historical Society meets once a month in Stiles Community Centre in Antrim from 7.30pm-9.30pm. Every month the members experience the insight of a guest speaker, a programme of events has been attached with this application. The group are also involved in bringing the history of the area to life through talks, lectures at
meetings and have been involved in putting together publications and videos of the area which are used in public spaces eg the local libraries.
